Ronnie 25th October 2015

My name is Ronnie Burns and my sister is Susan. We both live in Israel Alex and Richard are our direct cousins. Our fathers, Seymour and Alexander Burns (Berengarten), were brothers. It is with deep shock I write these lines. We cannot grasp the loss of our dearest Alex. The last time I saw her was for Richard's 60th birthday in Cambridge. It was a reunion, as I previously saw her in 1983. During the years we used to talk on the phone and she never missed a birthday by sending a card of greetings or giving me a phone call. I regret for not consecutively reciprocating. I last spoke to her at the end of last September after she received a letter from me giving her an update about me, my personal life and my family. She told me about herself, her general condition and her medications. Her cards to me were brief, informative and sad. The last card from her was dated on October the 1st, 2 weeks prior to her passing. She wrote that she was wearing the earrings I gave her, I guess in 1983. I'll eternally cherish this short note. From now on, each birthday of hers I'll think of her and as my birthday approaches I'll anticipate her card and calls that sadly will never reach me again. We both embrace you, dear Richard, weep with you and family and all who knew our Alex. Richard - We know Melanie will give you the comfort you deserve. I'll be saying Kaddish for her, here in Jerusalem, during her funeral. May our beloved Alex rest in eternal peace. תהא נשמתה צרורה בצרור החיים Ronnie Burns Susan Levy née Burns
